DIY Alcohol Ink Sprays

Lately, a few people have been asking me how I make up the alcohol sprays that I sue in my projects so I thought that I would give you a bit of a tutorial on them and then show you a quick card made using them.

Once made up they last forever and I use them on an array of projects. I love that you can colour coordinate the ink to match the card stock.

First of all, you need your reinker. I use about 20-30 drops of colour in my bottle and that’s about 1/4 of the bottle.

You also need our Stampin’ Spritzers:

And some 70% rubbing alcohol which I purchased via Amazon. I have also used water with the reinker and it works really well. It takes longer to dry than when using alcohol but you can get some really great effects and colour blends with water.

Fill your spritz to just over half way with the rubbing alcohol, add in your 23-30 drops of colour. Obviously the more colour you add in the darker the colour will be. Pop your lid on and give it a good shake. Then fill the bottle up to the top with some more rubbing alcohol. I found this way to be the best way to get an even mix and to ensure that I leave enough space for the coloured ink.

It’s best to spray at about 12″ away from your project so that you get a nice fine mist rather than a big splat but I suppose it all depends on the effect you are after.

What other hacks would you like to see? I am starting to build a series based around craft/art hacks so if you know of any that you’d like to see me demonstrate please let me know in the comments and I will sort that out for you 🙂
