I decided to kick off this month’s Crafty Club with a process page in my art journal. I started by prepping my page with gesso, this stops any bleed through and colour runs. Once that had dried (with a bit of help from my trusty friend the heat tool) I used a sponge to transfer the colour from the two ink pads onto the page, I wanted them quite bold so didn’t skimp on the ink here.
I used one of the paper doilies as a mask and picked up my pineapple punch sponge for some colour on colour stencilling. I done the same with the grapefruit grove except for this time I used the embossing paste (in the small jar in this month’s Crafty Club Kit). You can use any plastic surface, but I chose my silicone mat, I stamped my ink pad on the surface to transfer the colour and then added the embossing paste on top and mixed. This coloured the paste.
Again using the doilie as a mask I went round with the paste and created the same pattern on the grapefruit grove parts of the background. I love the effect this gives, it creates a really nice texture!
My next move was to fussy cut some of the flowers from the papers in the kit and create a falling effect with them, I used matte medium to adhere them down and a posca marker to add some swirly lines and dots.
The last thing to do was to stamp a sentiment on a punched out piece of card that I had coloured to match the background.
