Planner Girls Collective : Creative Journalling

As much as I wanted to journal today about our recent trip to the Harry Potter Studios I really wanted to get this page in my journal finished too.. My bestie had a baby a couple of weeks ago and I am totally smitten with him.. he is a tiny dot and I swear I feel my uterus do a little dance whenever I see him!! A few hours after he was born Eadie and I were lucky enough to go and visit them in the hospital and that is where we fell head over heels with him!

I used my new LG pocket printer to print the small photo, I love it as it is adhesive paper which makes using it on the go a real delight.

Stamping’ Up! NEW Eastern Palace Suite : Pocket Scrapbook Page

Apart from a couple of quick cards, this is the first chance I have had to play with the new Eastern Palace Suite from Stampin’ Up! these products have been available for demonstrators to order since the beginning of April and are available to customers on the 1st May!

The process video can be found HERE!

For the title/journalling card I layered the thinlets to create the medallion window on some which “very vanilla” card stock that I had cut to 4×6″ I find that by creating my own journalling cards I obtain the exact look that I am after and can embellish as much or as little as I’d like to. I added some of the gold foiled vinyl stickers and completed my journalling at the end.

By using the “Lemon Lime Twist” which is one of our brand new 2017-2019 in colours, along with “Dapper Denim” it gave a nice contrast with the stamping, unfortunately my camera stopped recording half way through so you didn’t get to see me use the layered stamps, yup technology hates me!

I really hope you like this layout and would love to hear your comments about the new products, don’t forget that every comment, here and on my youtube channel, wins you a ticket into a monthly prize drawing (except if you mention my double chin 😉

So who’s excited for the launch of this lovely Eastern Palace Suite then? To keep unto date with products, competitions etc then make sure you are subscribed to my newsletter HERE!

Monthly Memory Keeping

Stampin’ Up! Is traditionally know for card making but for me it is so much more! For me they provide the tools that I use to document the big (and quite often the small) moments in my children’s lives that I never want to forget.

For a while now I have been pondering a physical, rather than online, workshop and I am so excited to announce that I will be hosting my first “Monthly Memory Keeping” workshop at the end of May! This is a big step for me and I cannot wait to help others to create amazingly beautiful pages to record their memories.

We will mainly be focussing on pocket page style memory keeping but will look at all styles over the months.

I have reserved the 31st May 10am -1pm for the first workshop but this is flexible to meet the most popular days/time.

There is a charge of £10 which includes use of products, for cutters, stamps, ink and papers. You will also receive a page protector to start your very own album! Anyone who places an order over £45 will receive their £10 entry fee back.

Raffle tickets will be sold on the day with the prize being a beautiful Stampin’ Up! Stamp set!

The location may change, depending on number of people attending, but it will be held in the TS21 area.

To register for the workshop you can fill out THIS form for more details with no obligation.

Below is an example of what you will be making, all craft levels welcome from the absolute novice to the experienced scrapbooker.

Strawberry picking memory keeping

Every time I have a break from memory keeping in pocket page protectors I forget how much I actually love it! I had so much fun scrapping these photos from strawberry picking last year and this paper was perfect.

I find that when I create my own cards it gives me the freedom to be as creative as I want to be and I’m not worrying about trying to find matching embellishments.

For this layout I used;

Project Life Flick Through

I haven’t shared a Project Life post for a while now, I must admit I fell right off the wagon with it in the middle of last year and really struggled to get back into it. I put so much pressure on myself that I ended up feeling overwhelmed with catching up.

For anyone who doesn’t know what Project Life is, it’s a kind of scrapbooking system using page protectors and journalling cards, Project Life is a brand owned by Becky Higgins but there is also Simple Storoes sn@p, pocket pages and probably more that escape my mind right now. The albums and page protectors come in different sizes and I use 12×12.

The album I have is one from Amazon

I use an album per year and this one was from 2016. I start with a title page, this one I made totally from scratch:

Within the album I use a few different styles, some pages are jam packed with pictures and a small amount of journalling, other pages are made up of more journalling cards than anything else.

Each page is called a “layout” and some layouts I use kits so that everything coordinates, the picture above is a back to school layout which I made with a Stampin Up kit.

For picture heavy layouts (like above) I tend to let the journalling cards and the pictures tell the story.

When I’m feeling creative I love to embellish my pages, like above (yes I realise I’ve put off instead of “of” on the bottom left picture). I use a journalling app called Collect to write a bit about what was going on in the photo.

If I have a few pictures all telling the same story then I use the Pic Collage app to create a 4″x6″ picture collage and print it on my canon selphy (as above).

I love creating mini layouts on each card with eachbtelling their own little story, it can be done on actual project life cards (above) and with scrapbook paper which has been cut to size (below).

This year I am going to be more laid back, I’m not going to document each week, instead I am going to use a smaller album and go month by month, just documenting events or pictures as they come up.. I’ve ordered my first batch of pictures and I can’t wait to start!
