PGC – Mothers Day Gifts

We’ve been discussing crafty mothers day gifts this week, from the point of a mother I would love crafty gifts from my kids, anything we could do together would be even better but it is a very hard thing to get “right” I use a particular brand of products which are not available in the shops: however I would love something hand made from my kids.. a cute picture or card would literally make

My Mother’s Day complete!

So what’s different with my mum? Would she appreciate a hand made gift more than something shop brought? I think so! All mums would prefer something from the heart rather than the shop which is why this year I will be making her a paper succulents garden to match her decor, I know that my mum will appreciate the gesture every time she looks at it.

I must admit I wasn’t taken with this kit the first time I looked at it in the catalogue but I’ve seen some amazing looking wreaths and boxes on Pinterest that I cannot wait to try!

Tutorial : How to make an easy folder for a Traveler’s Notebook

Last week I set up my A6 UglyDori with designer papers from Stampin’ Up! Birthday Fiesta range, I love how fun and bright it is but my black purse was making me sad! I wanted something to go round it which would double up as a recipt holder.

I took some Emerald Envy A4 card stock and measured the width of an insert when open, I then added 1/2″ to either side and cut the card down to that. This would work for any size folder but for anything taller than an a6 you’d need 12×12″ cardstock or designer paper.

I love how it covers My purse but it could be used for inserts or as a stand alone folder.

Raising money for Carrie, for medical bills not funded by NHS

Edited to add new prizes:

  • The £50 UglyDori voucher has now been increased to any size UglyDori with any tooling/paint/customisation.. this is a whopping prize and Trevor is happy to work with the winner to create their dream UglyDori!!
  • A stationery Bundle from Three Little Buhos
  • £20 shop credit from Kelizabethplans

One of my lovely ladies on my PR Team, Carrie, is.. in totally understated words “a bit poorly” her condition….. in fact why don’t I let Carrie tell it in her own words…

Carrie’s Fund is about helping to raise funds to cover the increasing medical costs my complex condition brings.

Thanks to my stretchy-gooey-fragile connective tissue I have legs that wobble, the stamina of a sloth and an ability to facepalm the floor numerous times a day. I have complete intestinal failure, am fed directly into my heart (TPN), my upper spine is collapsing which is crushing my brainstem, I am losing my sight and my immune system is breaking down – my whole body is literally falling apart.

Sadly, there are many aspects of my condition which are not recognised or treated on the NHS or in the UK. As a result I have to fund a lot of my medical care, pay for expensive equipment and in the near future I may need to fund surgery and treatment in other countries

Carrie’s Fund is to help ease some of the burden of these extensive costs. Some of the things that the fund has paid for and will help pay towards in the future include :

  • Specialist powered wheelchair
  • Upright MRI scans in London for spinal instability (CCI)
  • Consultations with CCI neurosurgeon in Spain
  • Travel fridge to store TPN to allow travel away from home for appointments and short breaks.”

As you can see this beautiful lady has so much to deal with and still takes time out of her day to help others and raise awareness of the condition. You can read more of Carrie’s story HERE and follow her blog HERE

and the point of this post is: I decided to see if I could raise funds for Carrie’s medical treatment by donating a custom UglyDori to be raffled off, I posted in a UK sellers group on Facebook and the mega generous sellers jumped in with their own contributions to create one mega prize. Tickets are £2.50 and can be paid by PayPal at http://www.paypal.me/michellemills please only put the word Carrie in the notes and I will email you your ticket number (this will go to your PayPal email so please check that).

Competition closes on the 3rd April at 9am and the winner will be drawn live at 2pm that very same day. All money will be transferred to Carrie’s fundraising page that day (so please pay by friends and family to maximise the amount raised.

The prize…

There are more amazing contributors to come so keep checking back. If you are a seller or have an item you would like to donate to help this cause then please do contact me and I will make sure to add you to the list.

Planning My Week : A6 Traveler’s Notebook, Hobonichi Techno (bullet journal) and Erin Condren

What does a planner obsessed she devil do when she can’t make her mind up in a single planner system??? She uses them all haha.

I love my hobonichi techno (a6) and have carried the bullet journalling system over to her, she sits in my a6 UglyDori and comes everywhere with me as a purse. She sits in my desk and I use her day to day to track my to do lists and appointments, the split column on the page means I can seperate the hourly tasks and to do lists so that I can efficiently manage my time, she’s my task master and haunts me if I fail to complete all my tasks, I have carried over the “migrating” of tasks but been really trying hard to set manageable tasks and allocate time for them.

My ECLP sits open on my desk as kind of a master planner, I like to see the up coming week and be able to plan my time around future events… the reason I plan is that I am an epic fail at time management.. those 100 tasks I need to do are really important.. but YouTube always comes calling and scrolling on Facebook is always more appealing, by seeing the week ahead I find it almost spooks me into doing the task today, fear of a never ending list spooks me.

Multiple planning systems can be hard work and need a few “rules” the main one is schedualing appointments, if I am home they go straight into my ECLP in the monthly section; as that is my “master planner” I always transfer the tasks over to my A6 on a Sunday so rarely miss anything, if I’m out they go in my Hobonichi, the problem I had with that is, even with the best intentions, I found I often (read here always haha) forgot that I had scheduled anything in, due to it being a day on one page (DO1P) if I let it sink into the black obvlivian that is my memory I rarely remember it until I am in that daily page. To combat this I use good old stick notes (say what?? They actually have a function?!?) I either write the appointment on the sticky note only or pop it into the day too. The sticky note then goes on the front page of the Hobonichi and doesn’t come off until I have written it in my ECLP.

It’s my perfect system: for now!! But don’t forget to check back next week and find out my new favourites, the fickle beast I am!!

There is a video coming in the next day or two of me setting the 2 Planners up for this week, alas time disappeared yesterday (YouTube) and I haven’t edited it, feel free to pop over to my YouTube channel. You can now watch the video HERE!

Planner Girl Collective : Latest Stationery Purchases

Eppppp, as soon as I read today’s title I knew it would be more of a confession post than anything else.. I never think I buy that much but this is totally going to hold me accountable for my Stationery purchases.

Because I post my haul and unboxing videos I won’t list all the kits I’ve recently purchased (planner society and studio calico) instead I’ll show you what “small” purchases I have made that I normally wouldn’t think about!

I purchased this dear lizzy journal in Hobycraft a short while ago, it was only £2 and is so much fun I had to have it.

On the same trip I also brought a pack of Becky Higgins page protectors for project life and some washi tape.

My last online purchase was from paperchase for the a6 rose gold lightbox and some washi tape.

And probably my most random purchase was a huge stack of moleskin notebooks from staples, they had an offer on and I wiped them out.. no idea when I’ll get round to using them but knowing I have them makes my geeky heart happy!!

A6 Traveler’s Notebook set up and Studio Calico Unboxing

I am absolutely loving life in my A6 UglyDori, the inserts from @annieplansprintables work well for me (although I’m not a fan of the fold out pages) but my whole set up just didn’t have my heart singing with joy!

I knew my Planner Society kit from Scarlet Lime Crafts would be arriving soon and hoped that I could pimp my planner out with that!

Then my studio calico scrapbooking kit hit my doormat and I fell in love,  I’m not  normally a floral girl but the florals in this are bold and colourful, the colour palette both clash and compliment each other at the same time and looking at the whole kit together I could literally feel spring bursting from the pages!

I knew as soon as I opened it what the first project would be and I am so pleased I did. I filmed the unboxing and first part of my planner set up which you can see HERE, unfortunetly I have managed to misplace the second half of the footage..

In my eagerness to craft this sensational kit into something wonderful for my UglyDori I also forgot to take any pictures of the whole kit.. so today’s blog and video go hand in hand and by watching/reading them both you’ll get the whole picture haha.. I promise to be more careful with my footage in future and less eager to use the products so that I can snap a few pictures… who am I kidding, I’ll end up doing the same again next month haha.

I used 4 of the papers to create dashboards for my inserts, I had some gold foil stickers from simple stories that I placed on the blue cover and decided that this will be my positivity journal and that I’d write down all the positive things that happen to me every day.

Planner stickers, Washi and Ephemera unboxing/haul : Little Rainbow Moon on Etsy

At the beginning of January I placed an order, via Etsy, from Jo at Little Rainbow Moon, she had a code running and I’d been wanting some of her ephemera and stickers for a while.

Her shipping time was 2 weeks as she has children and they were off school for the holidays, we all know how chaotic that is right?

So last week the postie handed me my envelope of delicious happiness, I didn’t realise what it was at the time so tore it open only to find that it was my order. The kids were screaming around me and I was one Muuuummmmmm away from eating my feelings in chocolate cereal! But that’s the perfect time to record an unboxing right?? Perfect timing indeed!

First out the bag was the super stunning feather washi, although the word feather seemed to evade me. To match the washi I ordered the sticker kit, in personal planner size, to fit my a6 UglyDori and the matching ephemera pack.

I also ordered another sticker kit along with a sheet of feather stickers on transparent sticker paper and a galaxy ephemera pack… for no other reason than they are so stinking cute!!

If you are into art journalling then you really have to check out Jo’s shop, the stickers and ephemera are her own stunning art work.
